The Replacements Not Competing in MKS Melbourne Shield

The Replacements, the most successful MKS Melbourne team to date, has announced that they will not be competing in MKS Melbourne's new shield tournament due to a large number of players being unavailable.

The Replacements: Champions Cup 2010 Winners.  Their third successive Champions Cup victory and fourth successive MKS Melbourne tournament victory.

The Replacements have won all the MKS Melbourne tournaments and are currently positioned at the top of MKS Melbourne's team rankings with 13,384 points.  Undefeated FC trail them with only 8,385 points and Club Maurice is hot on their heels with 8,362 points.

The Replacements' unavailability will be disappointing for top teams who were surely looking to pit their skills against them in competition.  However, on the other hand, it may be received as welcomed news as it leaves the new tournament wide open for a new champion.  Their unavailability guarantees that a new team will be crowned the first MKS Melbourne Shield champion.

Likely suspects will surely be the top teams following The Replacements on the ladder: Undefeated FC, Club Maurice, Nioukyen FC, and Dark Hawk United.  Based on past performance, Club Maurice looks well poised to emerge as champions since they made it to the finals of the last two tournaments only to be defeated by The Replacements.  Dark Hawk United were also defeated in the last two by The Replacements in the quarter finals.  Undefeated FC will be doubly motivated as Club Maurice is edging closer to overtaking them on the rankings ladder being only 23 points behind them.  Nioukyen FC failed to qualify for the quarter finals in the Champions Cup 2010, but they are not to be ignored as they have proven themselves to be strong competitors in the past; they were quarter finalists in the Mauritian Futsal Cup 2010.
