Eager and Hungry: The Wolves

The captain of the newly founded team, The Wolves, Kim Young can only be described as eager and hungry. As a former player of Tombeau Bay FC (TBFC), Young has known only defeat and heartache as TBFC qualified in the Champions Cup Winter 2009 Tournament only to be defeated by The Replacements and knocked-out of the semi-finals and then failing to qualify in the Champions Cup 2009 Spring Tournament in a surprise defeat by Pression FC. However, Young adamantly adheres to his "never give up" attitude. In fact, in the upcoming Inaugural Mauritian Futsal Cup Tournament, Young is taking matters into his own hands and has assembled selected players to form The Wolves.

He selected the following players as he believes they all have great fighting spirit and determination, all required attributes to be a Wolves player.
  • Kim Young (captain)
  • Kenny "Cha Cha" How (vice captain)
  • Jeff Lai
  • Nicolas "Teokon" Tao
  • Rio
  • Christopher "Pookie" Chong
  • Edouard Whan Kan
  • Danny Young
Young states that his vice captain, Kenny "Cha Cha" How, is the embodiment of the Wolves' fighting spirit. He was especially selected as he is physically strong in the game, determined, and never gives up.

Jeff Lai and Nicolas "Teokon" Tao, are two old TBFC team mates that Young recruited as Wolves strikers as he particularly likes their energy on the pitch and their determination to play until the last whistle.

Rio, a Korea international, is the only non-Mauritian on the team. He has only played a few friendly matches with the Wolves, but has shown strong potential as a holding midfielder. Similarly, Christopher "Pookie" Chong, the team's goal-keeper, has only appeared in friendly matches with the Wolves. However, he has also shown potential and is definitely a strong character in between the goal posts.

Edouard Whan Kan is the veteran of the team and is not to be underestimated. Although in the twilight of his career, this old wolf's senses, and teeth, are still sharp. As goal-keeper for TBFC in the Champions Cup Winter 2009 Tournament, Whan Kan conceded the least number of goals, a feat unsurpassed but equaled by The Replacements' then goal-keeper, Kenny Lam.

In stark contrast to Whan Kan, Danny Young, Kim Young's cousin, is the youngest player on the team and has shown promise early in his career. However, accumulated injuries have prevented him from reaching his full potential. He is keen to compete in the tournament but he may not be able to as he suspects that he might be recalled to international duty in Mauritius soon.

Having competed in both Champions Cup Tournaments and the RMIT Soccer Challenge 2010, Kim Young knows that the road to victory is a long and arduous one. With that in mind, the Wolves are training and practicing hard. They are especially looking forward to playing against The Replacements, who are the current Champions Cup and RMIT Soccer Challenge 2010 champions.

Will Young's team prove themselves to be the alpha wolves of the tournament or upstart pups with growls worse than their bites?
